In the Meiji period, due to the development of Sapporo, valuable virgin forests were being lost in many places. Around that time, the virgin forest in Mt. Moiwa, which as a place for familiar research. Besides, the mountain has played a role as a place for “relaxation” and “learning” for people in Sapporo.
